Soviet Furs

Skip 20

Советский Союз
The Soviet Union lasted from 1917 by the death of the Czars to 1989 of the Fall of the Berlin Wall. Soviet Union consisted of Russia and several states, including after 1945 East Germany until the union's fall. Lenin and the Bolscheviks formed the Union with the great Russian Revolution during World War I. During World War II Stalin was in control.

A community for those in the furry fandom interested in the Soviet Union, Communism, World War II, or just simply uniformed anthropomorphics. This community is non-political and no matter what political opinion you have (or none!), you are free to join because politics are completely left by the door.

For art, stories, comics and related things with anthropomorphic animals in them. In other words: no art of communist humans, since this community is not for that. "Funny animals" are accepted and parodies of the Soviet Union, since this community is not pro-Soviet nor pro-Communist.

Warsaw pact nations at MFF [08 Sep 2008|09:02pm]

Comrades, It seems apparent that people no longer post here and I rather doubt that anyone still even pays attention to the community, nevertheless I still thought I'd give a shout out.

I am giving a shout out to any furs who have an interest in the soviet union and it's Warsaw pact allies or any who might happen to be a member of this community and are planning on going to Midwest Fur Fest in Chicago Illinois. I will be representing the small nation of the German Democratic Republic by dressing in full uniform of the boarder guard so if, by whatever slim chance, anyone reading this happens to see me. Please do say hi and chat me up with something Soviet related. ^^;

While I doubt this even more, if anyone going happens to collect warsaw pact apparel like me, please do consider packing an item or two along and perhaps we could patrol a hallway or two at the convention hotel.

If anyone thinks I'm a total dork and am quite mad please let me know that too. lol

Whoohoo! It's back! [09 May 2008|09:51pm]

Today the new Russian President Dmitry Medvedev threw a big parade for Victory Day in Red Square. He brought along a bunch of old friends, namely WWII vets, soldiers, tanks, howtizers, jets, planes and nukes. But another old friend also made a surprise appearance, the Hammer and Sickle. Yes kids, it's back!

Image from today's parade. The Russians sure know how to throw a party!

Hey, you know what's awesome? Case modding.

I'm basically going to make it my project to eventually figure out a way to get this done without voiding the warranty/AppleCare on my laptop. Because honestly, this would be, like, the coolest casemod ever.

Just felt like sharing this with you all. If you have any questions/comments about the design, feel free to throw your input my way!

Neuer Genosse [03 Dec 2007|09:39am]

I'm new here, thought I'd introduce my self. I'm Wehrwolf, well just "Wehr" actually since I changed my fursona to a Hyena. I know it sounds stupid but I don't want to make everyone I know re-learn my name. Anyway, my specialization is in the Former East Germany but I have a broad interest in the entirety of the Warsaw Pact countries and the Soviet Union it's self.

I have a small collection of East German Border guard, infantry, Panzer, Stasi and Vopo insignia and uniforms as well as many books on the subject. I also like to draw anthropomorphic characters in Uniform as you can see by by Avatar. I've been interested in the sister countries of the soviet Union for about five years and I've been a fur for about one. I never thought I'd find a community combining the two though. ^^

Oh, I've also been attempting to start an NVA/Warsaw Pact living history group in my area but this has so far been unsuccessful.

I will leave you with a scene from the Film "NVA." ^^ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VH31zpwwsb4

Soviet guns [05 Feb 2007|10:27pm]

Just making what I think is my first post here, been lurking about for a while. Been interested in Soviet stuff and WWII/Cold War and such for quite some time and this place sounded interesting. Always liked the uniforms as well as the weapons and such.

I've been getting a collection of fine soviet era firearms for a while and today picked up a Mosin Nagant M44 carbine and it made me think of posting here *grins*

I also have some other nifty things such as a fairly nice AK-74 (Bulgarian), a Bulgarian 9x18 Makarov pistol and a Czech CZ-52 pistol (shoots 7.62x25). Next things I want to get my paws on are a Saiga combat shotgun (working on a deal for one now) and a PPSH 41 sub machine gun. The former is a rather kick ass fully semi auto 12 gauge shotgun that can take 10 round magazines. The latter is a rather amazing sub machien gun which despite it's simplicity, was able to kick out 900 rounds a minute and 71 round drum mags. This is what helped turn the tide against Nazi Germany during the darkest days of the Great Patriotic War.

More blathering about soviet arms, and pics of some guns :)Collapse )

Greetings, Comrades.... [22 Nov 2006|09:23pm]

Well, as i love the symbolism of Soviet Era Russia, i finally settled on my tattoo

Outline 1

Outline 2

Finished Tattoo

Otter with tatt.

Of course, in case you did not know, this is the symbol for Aeroflot, the Russian airline, being framed by an I & R. For Ivan Rudakov. Why that? My Fursona is a winged russian tech otter. Sickle for the russian symbolism, and the Wings are pretty obvious ^_^

Just thought i would share

Comrade introduction... [28 Sep 2006|11:42pm]

[ mood | pleased ]

Поздравления, товарищи! (Greetings, comrades!)

First off, спасибо (thank you) to those who gave the okay to join this group. :) Spasibah, as it is written in romanization. While Shu'aliel is this one's LJ name, just call this one Comrade Kei. In real life, a proud Califur of late-twenties and obviously one keen about the former Soviet Union. *glares at Captain Obvious*

Personal memorabilia include a genuine Moscow-imported Soviet military hat, a few extra hat pins (including a simple red star with the hammer & sickle emblem), along with a replica of the Order of Lenin, as well as a replica KGB ID book-card (completely filled out in Russian, with facsimile signatures of Lenin, Kyrushchev and Andropov.) Would love to get a complete Soviet military uniform, preferably a KGB suit.

Enjoy good films on the era, including Hunt for Red October, K-19: the Widowmaker, and especially Thirteen Days. Planning to learn the Russian language in good time.

Being an artist as well, here's one example of this one's skills, http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/31383285/ done for a Gothic Furries group on Yahoo, but the character fits this community's theme perfectly. :) And always love the sexy Soviet fem-furs.

Anyway, all the best to all comrades here. *salutes*

Is there anybody really interested in the history of USSR?! [26 Sep 2006|11:40am]

[ mood | bitchy ]

If there is any..please, pay attention to the following points connected with the terms of existance and constituent of the USSR:
- USSR was established in December, 1922. After Nikolai II's execution, the former Russian Empire was ruled by the Provisional (temporary) Government. Unforunately (or may be fortunately) it was unable to solve all those economic and political problems (foreign invasion and inner disorders) and after October Revolution and the Civil War of 1918-1921 the power was seized by Bolsheviks. They established te first Communst state-the Soviet Union.
-Concerning DDR or Eastern Germany and the Soviet Republics:
by 1940s the Soviet Union comprised 15 Soviet Socialistic Republics:
The Baltic Republics: Estonian, Latvian. Lithuanian SSR; The Transcaucausian Republics: Armenian, Georgian, Azerbaijan SSR;
The Asian Republics: Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Tajik, Uzbek, Turkmen SSR; The West Republics: Byelorussian, Moldovian, Ukrainian SSR.
-East Germany or German Democratic Republic was never a part of USSR. It existed in 1944-1990 and was a Soviet occupied part of Germany. It was a member of a Warsaw Pact  (Treaty of Friendship, Co-operation and Mutual Assistance organized by USSR and Eastern Europe communist countries in order to counter teh alleged threat of NATO).
